Closed-alpha terms

1. Eligibility and alpha access

The closed alpha is available only to invited adults who are at least 18 years old. Accounts may not be transferred or shared. Access is a limited, revocable invitation for testing; it is not a promise of public release, continued availability, or future pricing.

2. The service

Coukan helps groups record expenses, calculate balances, plan reconciliation, and preserve a shared history. Calculations depend on the information testers enter. Each group remains responsible for checking amounts, identities, exchange rates, and real-world payments.

Coukan does not provide financial, tax, accounting, investment, or legal advice. A displayed balance is a collaboration aid, not an independently verified debt or legal determination.

3. Tester responsibilities

• Provide accurate account information and protect account access.
• Add another person’s information only with an appropriate reason and permission.
• Check entries and reconciliation instructions before acting on them.
• Use minimal or synthetic financial detail during the closed alpha.
• Report suspected account compromise or material calculation errors promptly.
• Follow applicable law and respect the privacy and rights of group members.

4. Acceptable use

Testers must not:

• Access or attempt to access another account or unrelated group.
• Probe, overload, disrupt, scrape, reverse engineer, or bypass service controls except through an approved security-testing arrangement.
• Upload malware, unlawful material, secrets, or data the tester has no right to share.
• Use Coukan for fraud, harassment, debt collection, regulated payment processing, or other harmful activity.
• Misrepresent the alpha as a public, certified, or financially regulated service.

5. Shared content and privacy

Testers retain their rights in information they enter and grant Coukan permission to host, process, and display it only as needed to operate and improve the service. Group entries are visible to authorized members of that group. The privacy policy explains provider, retention, deletion, and request practices.

6. Alpha risk and availability

The alpha may contain defects, change without notice, or experience downtime. Features may be added, redesigned, or removed. Although Coukan uses safeguards and tests, a tester should not use the alpha as the sole record of a legally or financially important obligation. Keep an independent record when loss would cause harm.

7. Feedback

Feedback may be used without payment or obligation to improve Coukan. Feedback should not contain another person’s confidential information. The tester keeps ownership of any original material included in feedback.

8. Suspension and ending access

Access may be limited or ended to protect people or data, respond to misuse, comply with law, address operational risk, or conclude the alpha. A tester may stop using Coukan and request account deletion at any time. Shared ledger history may be deidentified rather than removed when needed to preserve another member’s record.

9. Disclaimers and legal limits

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the alpha is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted access, fitness for a particular purpose, or error-free calculations. Coukan is not responsible for a payment, purchase, tax position, or agreement made outside the service based only on an unverified entry.

Nothing in these terms excludes a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded. Liability, if any, is limited only to the extent applicable law permits. These terms do not require arbitration or waive a tester’s right to contact a regulator or bring a claim in an available court.

10. Changes and contact

Material changes will be communicated to invited testers before taking effect when appropriate. Continued use after the effective date means accepting the revised terms; a tester who disagrees may stop using the service and request deletion.
